The idea behind the pocket studio

These small watercolor paintings are produced using a custom pocket studio containing all of the materials needed including a pencil fountain pen, brushes, paper, and watercolor palette. There’s even a pen knife and a ruler in there.

The idea came to me one day when I was trying to conceive of a creative outlet that I could carry anywhere. I thought it would be a better way to waste time than doom-scrolling.

Each piece is at least partially executed on location, in the moment. They are made on fine French water-color paper, and all measure 2″ x 3.5″, the size of a standard business card. For me, they serve as a reminder to absorb life as individual events that come and go and that each moment has beauty in it somewhere.

Paintings are available for purchase and are not reproductions. You’re buying the original. It’s one of a kind, just like the moment that inspired it.
